Iris

Iris like a limey soil, and require a cover for the winter.  They should be planted in a moist garden soil in a sunny, protected spot.  For the Dutch and Minature Iris, plant the root about 2-3” deep, and 2-3” apart.  All the other varieties should be planted 1-2" deep and 12-22" apart.

The Iris will stay in the ground for many years, becoming larger and producing more flowers year to year. The root can be dug and separated after a few years of growth and started in another part of your garden.
